Bed-supply-units in the ARD-Clinic carry the signature of Nexus Product Design
Only the best will do for patients in the Johannes-Thal-Clinic in Erfurt. Protected by senior physician Dr. Niklas Ahrend, the characters in the ARD series "In aller Freundschaft - Die jungen Ärzte" (In all friendship – the young doctors) recover in modern wards and intensive-care rooms. The restrained design of the medical supply units at the head of the hospital beds is an integral part of the anything but "clinical" architecture. These were developed by Bielefeld- based design agency Nexus Product Design for the brand Schyns Medizintechnik.
The "Q 100" houses all the electricity and communication connections, medical gas outlets and light sources necessary for the patient’s room. It contains them in a modular system which is recessed flush with the wall or wall panel. Its simple, basic form has won various architectural and design awards and enables room designers to use the Q100 as a tool and fit it harmoniously into the room. This leads to completely new possibilities for the visually-calm, humane design of the sickroom.
At the same time the Q100 combines restrained elegance with the robustness and functionality demanded for everyday use. The integrative overall shape with its smooth surfaces is particularly easy to clean and the lighting works independently of the supply ducts so it can be positioned exactly where the patient needs it. The field of application ranges from light use and normal care to use in nursing homes.
